Laura Launches "L s’en mêle"

After years in jewelry retail and family life, Laura finally chose to invest in herself and her future.

How did the idea of becoming a wedding planner come to you?

I had been thinking about it and dreaming about it for ten years, but my family life did not allow me to start a new project. At the end of my three-year parental leave, I decided to take the leap and finally devote myself to myself and to my future.

After more than ten years of loyal service in the jewelry store where I worked, I decided that I would not go back there.

So I took things in hand and contacted Olivia to begin the adventure.

What difficulties did you face before getting started and how did you overcome them?

Returning to real life was not easy at first. But I have to admit that it felt good for both my morale and my mind to think about something other than my children.

After earning my certification, I had to build my website and think about the direction I wanted to take with it. I had to create my company.

It took several months. I wanted everything to be perfect and, above all, to reflect who I am.

I asked my loved ones for a lot of advice, and they all got involved.

I really cared about that website.

After the website, I moved on to social media.

How did the first year of activity go?

My business has now been launched for exactly one year, and I have only had one client, on December 24, 2019. And it was not even for a wedding, but for their Christmas dinner.

Needless to say, I knew it would be hard, but not to that extent. In October 2019, I had a meeting with a future couple, but it did not lead anywhere. I understood their reasons and accepted them.

My biggest day-to-day difficulty and how I deal with it

For me, it remains the lack of prospects, and with the current situation I do not think that will improve.

I nevertheless try to stay present on my social platforms so that my pages stay active.

But remote work does not really exist right now. One could almost say that my company is at a standstill.

What the IWI program brought me

The program was very constructive for me. Thanks to it, I learned so much in every area. I truly loved it, and if I could, I would do it again. I honestly found it far too short.

I would happily do a more in-depth program. Maybe even a post-certification one.

Perhaps that is an idea for you.
