Karima Launches the Event Agency "Carrie Events"

Covid became the turning point that helped Karima step into entrepreneurship and wedding planning.

How I came up with the idea of becoming a Wedding Planner / Designer

I had been thinking for a while about starting an activity where I would be my own boss. When Covid arrived, it gave me the push I needed to move into entrepreneurship. Events, and weddings in particular, attracted me a lot because they are moments of joy and happiness.

My background before getting started

I started my career in a translation company where I worked as a desktop publishing technician. Over the years, within the same company, I moved from account executive to sales manager. After having my children, I also worked as an office manager for a few years. I like doing a bit of everything, and versatility is something I really enjoy.

The difficulties I faced before getting started

My main difficulty was trusting myself. Everyone around me told me I should go into wedding planning, but at first I did not feel capable of it. After a few months of reflection, I did not regret choosing to take the leap.

My agency

Carrie Events is an agency that offers wedding planning services as well as other events. I am based in the Paris region, but I also work wherever future brides and grooms wish to celebrate the most beautiful day of their lives.

What I love about my job

Seeing couples full of joy and happiness, knowing that their wedding is unique and truly reflects them, and seeing everyone happy and emotional on that day.

My first year in business

For a first year, I had the opportunity to organize or coordinate three weddings as well as two styled shoots, all while working in another professional activity at the same time. It has been a positive start, and I have already signed two new weddings for 2024 so far.

What IWI brought me

A lot. If I had not taken this program, I would not be here filling in this questionnaire. I learned how to manage my tools, how to manage the relationship with couples, and many other things.
